Todo lugar místico e mágico cria as suas lendas - e como todos nos sabemos toda lenda tem um poucinho de verdade nela. Aqui são algumas lendas da nossa maravilhosa região a Chapada Diamantina.
Pai Inácio
Um escravo chamado Inácio havia se apaixonado pelo filha de seu senhor e, por este motivo, condenado à morte pelo pai da moça. Fugindo dos matadores contratados pelo senhor, o escravo Inácio tentou se esconder num morro, acuado por seus perseguidores, não lhe restou alternativa a não ser saltar do alto do morro, que hoje leva o seu nome. Para evitar a morte abriu um guarda-chuva e desceu ao solo suavemente e sem ferimentos. Inácio partiu correndo para a mata onde se escondeu e até hoje não fora encontrado.
Encanto do Diamante
Conta-se que há uma forte união entre os diamantes e os astros. Os garimpeiros antigos contavam que para cada estrela no céu existia um diamante na terra. O garimpeiro só achava o diamante se os astros permitissem. Para que isso acontecesse era preciso ocorrer o "bambúrrio", uma encantamento entre o garimpeiro, a pedra e os astros (estrelas), era essa união que dava sorte ao garimpeiro para achar os diamantes - "E quando o garimpeiro vê a luz correr na serra ele sabe: é o chamado do diamante. Ele foi escolhido. Homem, diamante e estrela: está fechado o triângulo da magia." Assim nasce o "encantamento".
Pedra Viva
A lenda conta que as pedras preciosas da Chapada tinham o poder de se esconder dos maus Garimpeiros, ou seja, elas só apareciam nas bateias de seus supostos donos, aqueles predestinados a serem seus donos.
Lagoa Encantada
Conta que uma linda jovem apaixonada, sem ter seu amor correspondido, olhou-se nas águas da Lagoa para tentar certificar-se da ingratidão do seu amado, que a rejeitava. Constatada a injustiça que sofria, desistiu de viver e jogou-se nas águas profundas. Uma Síncope impediu que a jovem se afogasse, prendendo seus cabelos longos no tronco de uma árvore, com a cabeça fora d'água. A jovem foi encontrada ainda viva, protegida pela Lagoa. Seu amado porém, comovido com a atitude da jovem, foi ao seu encontro. Conta-se que desde então viveram em felicidade.
Chamamento
Segundo a crença do Chamamento, os diamantes atraem seus donos por causa de sua luz e seu som peculiar. O Chamamento consiste no fenômeno no qual o garimpeiro, quando se aproxima de sua pedra, escuta leves batidas nela e vê uma intensa luz sobre a serra.

All mystical and magical places create its legends - and as we all know every legend has a bit of truth in it. Here are some legends from our beautiful region - the Chapada Diamantina.
Pai Inácio
A slave named Inácio fell in love with the daughter of his master, and for this motive, convicted to death by the girl's father. Running away from the killers contracted by the master, Inácio tried hiding on a mountain but followed by his pursecutors he was not left any choice but jump from the mountain top that today is called by his name. To avoid death he opened an umbrella and got to the ground safely and without any injuries. Inácio took his chance and ran away to the nearest forest where he hid himself and until today was not found.
The charm of the Diamonds
People are telling each other that there is a strong bond between diamonds and the stars. The ancient prospectors believed that there existed a diamond on earth for each star in the sky. The diamond searcher only would find the diamond due to the star's permission. For this to happen it was necessary to do the "Bambúrrio", an enchantment for the prospectors, the stone and the stars. It was this bond that gave the luck to the prospectors in order to find the diamonds – "And when the garimpeiro sees the light down in the sierra he knows: it is the diamond calling. He was chosen. Man, diamond and the star: the magical triangle has closed.". That way the "Enchantment" is born.
Living Stone
The legend tells that the precious stones of the Chapada Diamantina have the power to hide from the eyes of any person and especially prospectors, or be it that they will just appear in the hands of its supposed owners, the ones fated to be their owners.
The Enchanted Lagoon
It is told that a beautiful, young girl who had fallen in love, without her love corresponding to her feelings, looked at herself in the waters of the lagoon to try and be sure about the ingratitude of her lover who rejected her. Due to the injustice that she suffered she decided not to live anymore and jumped into the deep waters. A syncope prevented that the young girl would drown by holding her long hair around the trunk of a tree with her head above the water. The girl was found alive, protected by the lagoon. Her lover was affected by her attitude and went to see her. It is told that they were living happy ever after.
The Calling
Due to the believe of the calling the diamonds attract their owners because of their light and their particular sound. The calling consists of the phenomenon in which the prospectors hears slight beats and sees an intense light in the sierra when he is getting near to the diamond.
